About the illustration
I scoured the interwebs for the original designer but I can’t find a source. Most people who are familiar with the 1939 NY Worlds Fair think that the official logo of the the fair was some variation of the Trylon and Perisphere. The images of those two structures were used to represent the fair but they were not part of the official seal.
The Emblem
I found two version of the logo at the NYPL archive. The earliest version of the seal I is from Oct. 1936, and the second cleaner version that looks like to be more refined but the date is too small to read. The emblem was sown onto the sleeves of they NY Yankees jerseys and you can see flags flying the emblem in the background of the 1996 movie “The Phantom” based on the Lee Falk comic strip of the same name.
