This is one of the better Captain Midnight covers by Leonard Frank. The re-inking was pretty straight forward and I did exaggerate the lines a little bit more than the original to make it more substantial. I also colored it based on the same color palette as the cover.
About Leonard Frank
Leonard Frank was one of the many artists who worked on ‘Captain Midnight’, written by Otto O. Binder. Other artists were Clem Weis-Becker, Lincoln Cross, and Al Bare. The ‘Captain Midnight’-character was originally created by radio writers Willfred Moore and Robert Murit in a radio-show in 1940.
The Captain appeared first in comic form in 1941, published by Dell. In June 1942 this was taken over by Fawcett Comics, which made ‘Captain Midnight’ a major comic book feature. It ran until September 1948, when the need to fight German and Japanese enemies was no longer of any necessity.
