About the illustration
I modified this from the original more than I usually do and I don’t think I did a half bad job. I really liked this image, it almost looks like it should be on a social distortion album.
About Howard Nostrand
Howard Nostrand (1929-1984) was a prominent American comic book artist best known for his work during the Golden Age of Comics. He began his career in the late 1940s and gained recognition for his dynamic and detailed illustrations, often in the horror and crime genres. Nostrand worked with various publishers, including Harvey Comics, where he made significant contributions to titles such as “Chamber of Chills” and “Black Cat Mystery.” His style was heavily influenced by the legendary artist Jack Davis, and Nostrand was known for his ability to create suspenseful and visually striking narratives. Despite facing challenges during the decline of the comic book industry in the 1950s, Nostrand continued to work in the field, transitioning to advertising and commercial art later in his career. His contributions to comic art remain appreciated for their creativity and impact on the genre.
